Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my hair routine lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I’ve always wondered about the whole conditioning thing versus deep conditioning, so I decided to really dive in and figure it out for myself.
First off, I started with my usual deal – washing my hair. After that, I went in with my everyday conditioner, the one I always use. You know, just slathered it on, let it sit for a couple of minutes while I did my thing in the shower, and then rinsed it out. My hair felt okay, pretty much the same as it always does after a wash and condition – soft, but nothing to write home about. I noticed that my hair is easy to manage after conditioning, especially to untangle my hair.
- Regular conditioning:
- Applied after shampooing
- Left on for a few minutes
- Rinsed out
- Hair felt soft and manageable
Now, here’s where it got interesting. A week later, I did the whole wash routine again, but this time, I skipped the regular conditioner and went straight for the deep conditioner. I used this thick, creamy stuff that smelled amazing. I really worked it into my hair, from the roots to the tips, making sure every strand was covered. Then, I clipped my hair up, slapped on a shower cap, and just chilled for like 30 minutes. I even read a magazine to kill time.
- Deep conditioning:
- Applied after shampooing (skipped regular conditioner)
- Used a thick, creamy product
- Worked into hair from roots to tips

When I finally rinsed it out, holy moly, it was a whole different ball game. My hair felt like silk. Seriously, it was so incredibly soft and smooth, I couldn’t stop touching it. And it wasn’t just the softness, my hair looked shinier, felt stronger, and just overall healthier. Even those pesky split ends seemed a bit tamer. I also felt that it provided more moisture than the regular one. Even though I didn’t use regular conditioner before applying deep conditioner, the outcome was still awesome. After that, I would use deep conditioner once every two weeks.
My Findings
So, what did I learn from my little experiment? Well, regular conditioning is fine for day-to-day maintenance. It keeps your hair manageable, but it’s more of a surface-level thing. Deep conditioning, on the other hand, is like a spa day for your hair. It really gets in there and works its magic, leaving your hair feeling amazing and looking its best. It’s definitely something I’ll be doing regularly now, especially since my hair tends to be on the dry side and I’ve noticed it breaking more easily recently. I’ve got a feeling deep conditioning is going to be a game-changer for me, and I think it can make my hair more strong and healthy.
