Alright, alright, let’s talk about them “falsa shots,” or whatever them fancy folks call ’em. You know, the kind of pictures that ain’t just plain old snaps. The ones that make you scratch your head and say, “How’d they do that?”

Now, I ain’t no fancy photographer, mind you. I just take pictures of my chickens and my grandkids. But I seen some things, ya know? And I heard tell of ways to make your pictures look…different.
First off, they say you gotta play with the light. Yeah, light! Like, sometimes you want a whole lot of it, real bright, so you can see everything clear as day. But sometimes, they say you want shadows. Shadows? Who knew shadows could be so important? They say you can make a whole picture just outta shadows, like playing games with the sun. It sounds kinda fun, I guess.
- Lots of light: Makes things clear.
- Shadows: Can make things look mysterious or different. Like, you ain’t even lookin’ at the thing itself, but at its shadow. Kinda sneaky, ain’t it?
Then there’s this thing called “levitation.” Sounds like somethin’ outta the Bible, don’t it? But it ain’t. It’s when you make stuff look like it’s floatin’ in the air. How they do that? I ain’t got a clue. Maybe they got some special strings or somethin’. Or maybe they just real good at jumpin’ and catchin’ the picture at just the right time. I tell ya, them young folks got too much time on their hands.
But I heard tell it ain’t just jumpin’. They do all sorts of tricks to make things look floaty. Maybe they throw stuff up in the air, or maybe they use them computer thingamajigs to make it look that way. It’s all a bit much for an old lady like me, but hey, if it makes a pretty picture, who am I to judge?
And they talk about “creative techniques.” Creative, huh? Sounds like a lot of fuss just to take a picture. Back in my day, you just pointed the camera and clicked. But now, they got all these different ways to make a picture look…well, creative. Like, they mess with the colors, or they make things blurry on purpose. Blurry? I always tried to make my pictures clear! But I guess that’s the difference between me and them fancy photographers.

They also talk about gettin’ that “creative edge.” Edge? What edge? I guess it means makin’ your pictures stand out from the rest. You know, not just another picture of a flower or a dog. You gotta make it different, make it special. Like, maybe you take a picture of a flower from a weird angle, or maybe you make it look all glowy and magical. I don’t know, it all sounds like a lot of work to me.
They say sometimes the basic stuff works just fine. Yeah, I agree with that! Sometimes you don’t need all them fancy tricks and gadgets. Just a good eye and a steady hand. That’s how I take my chicken pictures, and they turn out just fine, thank you very much.
But sometimes, I guess, you wanna do somethin’ different. You wanna make somethin’ that makes people stop and look. And that’s where all them “falsa shots” come in. They ain’t real, not exactly. But they’re pretty, and they’re interesting. And I guess that’s what matters.
So, how do you get good at takin’ these “falsa shots”? Well, I reckon you gotta practice. You gotta play around with your camera, try different things, and see what works. And you gotta look at other people’s pictures, get some ideas. And most importantly, you gotta have fun. If you ain’t havin’ fun, what’s the point? Photography, even this fancy “falsa shot” stuff, should be somethin’ you enjoy. Like bakin’ a pie, or plantin’ a garden. It’s all about makin’ somethin’ beautiful, somethin’ that makes you and maybe other folks happy.
Now, I’m gonna go back to takin’ pictures of my chickens. They may not be “falsa shots,” but they’re real, and they make me happy. And that’s good enough for me.

And one last thing, them fancy words and techniques, they’re just tools. It’s the person behind the camera that really matters. So go out there, have fun, and take some pictures, whether they’re fancy “falsa shots” or just plain old snaps. It don’t matter, long as you’re happy with ‘em.
